- R S Spectro Rover Rover is the free protagonist of Wuthering Waves and unlocks additional Attribute forms — Spectro, Havoc, and Aero — as the main story advances. The Spectro form deals solid on-field Spectro damage and can quick-swap to feed Concerto to teammates, making them the ideal account backbone before limited Resonators arrive. They are also one of the few free Spectro options, so they stay relevant well into the endgame.
- J S Aero Jiyan Jiyan is a 5★ Aero Broadblade main DPS and one of the game's first limited carries. His kit revolves around charging and unleashing Heavy Attacks, which a coord buffer like Mortefi amplifies dramatically. With a proper team he is a top-tier single-target and AoE Aero damage dealer, and he remains a staple of Aero content.
- C A Electro Calcharo Calcharo is a 5★ Electro Broadblade main DPS who marks enemies with Punishment stacks and detonates them with his Resonance Liberation for a large burst. He is a reliable, self-contained Electro carry whose damage front-loads on his Liberation, making him easier to pilot than quickswap units.
- E A Fusion Encore Encore is a 5★ Fusion Rectifier main DPS who alternates between two states to amplify her Resonance Liberation and Basic Attacks. She is one of the most accessible Fusion carries and performs well even on a free team, making her a great early pull for new accounts facing Fusion-weak content.
- J SS Spectro Jinhsi Jinhsi is a 5★ Spectro Broadblade main DPS and a premier Spectro carry. She applies the Spectro Frazzle Negative Status and detonates it with her Resonance Skill and Liberation for enormous burst, and she is amplified by coord / intro buffers like Zhezhi. She is a top pick for Spectro content and a frequent endgame staple.
- C SS Glacio Carlotta Carlotta is a 5★ Glacio Pistols main DPS who enters a special state by holding her Basic Attack, then unloads a high-damage combo. She is a premier Glacio carry and pairs naturally with Glacio coord buffers like Zhezhi. Her kit rewards clean execution but is very strong even at moderate investment.
- C SS Havoc Camellya Camellya is a 5★ Havoc Sword main DPS who accumulates Crimson petals and spends them on empowered Heavy Attacks and her Resonance Liberation. She is a premier Havoc carry and is famously easy to enable — Sanhua's fast Concerto and buffs let Camellya hit near-ceiling damage on a free team, which is why she is so popular with new players.
- S SS Spectro Shorekeeper Shorekeeper is a 5★ Spectro Rectifier healer and one of the best supports in Wuthering Waves. Her Resonance Liberation heals the team and her Outro + buffs raise the whole team's ATK and CRIT Rate, multiplying every carry's damage. She is attribute-agnostic, so she slots into essentially any team and is a top pull for account-wide value.
- V S Spectro Verina Verina is a 5★ Spectro Rectifier healer and widely considered the best free-to-obtain healer in Wuthering Waves (she is given through early / mid progression and convenes). Her coordinated attacks and Outro Skill raise the next Resonator's ATK, and Rejuvenating Glow echoes turn her healing into a team ATK buff. She is the default sustain for most accounts.
- Y A Aero Yangyang Yangyang is a free 4★ Aero Sword support obtained during the Prologue. She grants Energy Regen and a minor ATK buff through her Outro Skill, making her a serviceable enabler for Aero carries like Jiyan before limited supports arrive.
- B B Glacio Baizhi Baizhi is a free 4★ Glacio Rectifier healer who is one of the first sustains most players obtain. She keeps the team alive with a healing beam and is a perfectly fine stopgap until Verina or Shorekeeper is pulled.
- S S Glacio Sanhua Sanhua is a 4★ Glacio Sword sub-DPS who is famous as the cheapest, strongest enabler for Havoc / Glacio quickswap carries. She builds Concerto almost instantly and her Outro grants a large Heavy Attack DMG and Glacio buff to the incoming Resonator, which is exactly what Camellya wants. She is a must-build free unit.
- C B Fusion Chixia Chixia is a free 4★ Fusion Pistol sub-DPS who joins during the Prologue. She provides early Fusion damage and coordinate value, making her a reasonable bridge unit before a limited Fusion carry like Encore is built.
- Y B Electro Yuanwu Yuanwu is a free 4★ Electro Gauntlets support awarded through early progression. He offers a shield and buffs to Resonance Skill damage, making him a serviceable free partner for Electro DPS units like Calcharo.
